Ultra-Thin Almost Invisible DAS Ceiling Antennas

Pulse Engineering Invisible AntennaPulse Electronics has introduced a series of ultra-thin, clear, DAS ceiling antennas. These antennas hang just 0.33 inches (8.4mm) below the ceiling, the see-through housing of the DASUTCC antennas makes them nearly invisible when mounted, yet they have a PIM rating of better than -155 dBc at 2x20 watts (2x43 dBm). Their translucent design makes them ideal for providing access to wireless networks in hotels, convention centers, formal spaces, older buildings with low ceilings, shallow spaces, or areas where aesthetic concerns are of major importance.

Part of Pulse Electronics’ PIMinator™ line of low passive intermodulation antennas, the DASUTCC omni antenna family now includes 7 different antenna product variants. Three different connector options are available to support N, 4.1-9.5 Mini-DIN, and 4.3-10 connectors, either with or without an energy director. Products in the family include the DASUTCC500NF with N female connector; the DASUTCC500MD with 4.1-9.5 Mini-DIN connector, and the DASUTCC5004310 with 4.3-10 connector. The antenna with its mounting is 9.41 inches (239mm) in diameter. A reflector accessory, the DASUTCCACC1, is available to optimize radiant energy by reducing above-ceiling radiation. Kits of the antenna plus reflector are also available. Pairs of the antennas can be installed to create a MIMO system.

The inclusion of these new connector types makes this exciting family of transparent in-building antennas suitable for all major wireless carriers. The indoor DAS market is being driven by increased consumer demand for high data rates, streaming video, and clear, reliable, mobile data services everywhere in a building. Operators are faced with having to find an antenna that can be installed without interfering with the aesthetics or design of the building. The ultra-thin, clear ceiling antenna from Pulse solves these issues. They boost in-building coverage and capacity and have been shown to have some of the best PIM performance, yet they are attractive and their thin translucent mounting makes them nearly invisible.

Pulse Electronics will be exhibiting its DASUTCC antennas at the DAS and Small Cells Congress, being held at The Roosevelt New Orleans Hotel, New Orleans, LA, from June 9-10, 2015, in booth #301.
