Aaronia AG, a German company that specializes in the development and manufacturing of high-quality measurement equipment for RF and microwave frequencies, will present its extensive range of antennas, measuring instruments for every application, and high-quality accessories for the amateur radio sector at this year's HAM RADIO from June 23–25, 2023. The brand new SPECTRAN V6 ECO real-time spectrum analyzer family will be the focus of the trade show presentation. At #booth 450 in Hall 1, the measurement technology specialist from Strickscheid will be showcasing its broad portfolio of RF equipment at Europe's largest amateur radio exhibition. This includes innovative and extremely precise spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and test equipment.
Nine antenna series cover almost every conceivable scenario. Reliable signal transmissions are ensured by the extensive range of high-quality connectors, plugs, and cables. All products are based on the high-quality standards typical of Aaronia. "No matter which product from our range is involved, it must meet the highest quality standards," says Thorsten Chmielus, Managing Director and CEO of Aaronia AG. "Because reliable results can only be achieved with the best equipment."
High-end power for small budgets - SPECTRAN V6 ECO
Quality has its price, but Aaronia offers, especially for amateur radio operators or hobby users, inexpensive devices, accessories, and powerful equipment. Radio amateurs live and love technology. Accordingly, in-house developments are also numerous.
"On the one hand, the functionality of the self-developed hardware is in the foreground here," says Chmielus. "On the other hand, however, it is particularly interesting in the amateur radio sector to know whether all guidelines and specifications for proper operation are adhered to or whether my system produces interference."
Until now, however, powerful devices have been too expensive for amateur use, while simple SDRs have sometimes been insufficient. With the SPECTRAN V6 ECO, Aaronia is ushering in a new era of real-time spectrum analysis. The USB device offers a real-time bandwidth (RTBW) of 44 MHz and an extended frequency range of 9 kHz to 6 GHz in the basic version. The scope of delivery includes the powerful RTSA Suite PRO for signal recording and data analysis. Among other features, the software offers simultaneous display of multiple signal visualizations, including recording and playback of the full IQ bandwidth. A large number of functions with a total value of 7,782.00 euros are already included free of charge in the basic version. These include various 2D and 3D views, IQ processing, triggers, AM/FM decoders, file readers, file writers, remote HTTP, and scripts.
The SPECTRAN V6 ECO as a dual RX variant closes the gap between affordable but low-performance SDRs and expensive and fast high-end analyzers.
It includes SPECTRAN V6 ECO, including RTSA-Suite PRO, and costs less than 1,500 euros in the basic version, a revolution in the market for real-time spectrum analyzers. Alternatively, the instrument can be ordered with an integrated signal generator or as a dual RX variant. Especially the latter closes the gap between affordable but low-performance SDRs and expensive but fast high-end analyzers. Due to the two independent inputs, the SPECTRAN V6 ECO offers 2 x 44 MHz RTBW on the one hand. On the other hand, it achieves up to 3 THz/s sweep speed with the unique, patented high-speed tictoc LO function. In the course of the HAM RADIO there is a special discount of 20% on the device, including all software options, for pre-orderers.
Individually configurable
Of course, the SPECTRAN V6 ECO can be expanded. For example, an additional low-noise preamplifier, GPS, an extended temperature range, and a frequency extension to 8 GHz can be ordered.
"However, these additional options must be specified directly when ordering, as retrofitting at a later date is not possible," says Thorsten Chmielus. Other extensions can be easily installed via a software license and expand the functional range of the device considerably. A wide range of functions are available. By the way, the SPECTRAN V6 ECO is only connected to the PC or laptop with a USB cable. The power supply is provided by USB PD via the same USB port. To run the software, at least 2 GBytes of RAM, a quad-core processor with a 1.6 GHz clock frequency and AVX2 support, and Windows 10 are required.
