European Microwave Week (EuMW 2023) is largest European event dedicated to the RF & Microwave Industry. This year the event took place in Messe Berlin, Germany from 17-22 September 2023. The event featured three co-located conferences.

50-Ohm, 1:2 RF Balun from 10 MHz to 67 GHz Signal Integrity Applications

The EBAL-0067 from Marki Microwave is an RF Balun that operates from 10 MHz to 67 GHz. This ultra-broadband balun is hand-tuned for optimal phase and amplitude balance performance across the complete band. It has an impedance ratio of 1:2 (balance to unbalanced transformer), an amplitude balance of ±1.5 dB, and a phase balance of ±15°. This 50-ohm balun provides an isolation of 5 dB, a common mode rejection of 35 dB, and has an insertion loss of less than 8 dB (as a mode converter). The N5186A MXG from Keysight Technologies is a 4-channel Vector Signal Generator with a frequency range from 9 kHz to 8.5 GHz. It delivers an output power of up to +27 dBm with a phase noise of -147 dBc/Hz (at 10 kHz offset) and has a frequency resolution of 1 x 10-5 Hz. This signal generator is capable of generating signals with a modulation bandwidth of 960 MHz. mmWave Antenna Array for Automotive Radar System Testing

The R&S®QAT100 from Rohde & Schwarz is a mmWave Antenna Array for automotive radar testing system that operates from 76 to 81 GHz. It has an electronically steerable frontend that enables realistic target generation. The antenna array has up to 2 x 96 individually switchable transmit antennas and can simulate up to 8 completely independent objects. It has small patch antennas which are covered with an absorber to provide a clean RF frontend with very low RCS, reducing the sensor noise floor and suppressing close range targets and potential multipath reflections. Single/Multi-Channel Vector Signal Generators from 10 MHz to 40 GHz

The APVSGXX from AnaPico are Single/Multi-Channel Vector Signal Generators with a frequency range from 10 MHz to 40 GHz. They are available with up to 4 channels, deliver an output power from +13 to +19 dBm, and have an SSB phase noise of -115 dBc/Hz (at 20 kHz offset, 20 GHz frequency). These signal generators have an RF modulation bandwidth of 400 MHz and an image sideband rejection of -85 dBc.  Ultra-Low Noise Amplifier from 1 to 6 GHz for Space Applications

The TDLNA002093SEP from Teledyne e2v HiRel Electronics is a low noise amplifier developed for high-reliability space and radar applications. The LNA operates from 1 to 6 GHz and provides 21 dB of gain with a noise figure 0.37 dB and has a P1dB of 19 dBm. The device utilizes application-specific biasing and can be biased over a VDD range of 2.7 to 5.0 volts and an IDDQ range of 30 mA to 100 mA. A Class-K evaluation kit is also available for customer evaluation. The iCana ICAMB2629-A is a 5G mmWave Beamforming IC that operates from 26.5 GHz to 29.5 GHz covering n257 and n261 5G NR FR2 bands for Wireless Infrastructure applications. It contains 8 independent transmit and receive channels supporting 4 horizontal and 4 vertical polarized antennas via independent input/outputs. Low-Noise Gain Block from 23 to 29.5 GHz for mmWave 5G Applications

The CMX90B702 from CML Microcircuits is a Gain Block that operates from 23 to 29.5 GHz. It provides a small signal gain of 17.5 dB with a noise figure of 4 dB and has an output P1dB of 5 dBm. This gain block has been fabricated using a GaAs pHEMT process to provide optimum gain, linearity, noise, and low DC power consumption. It is highly integrated to minimize the external component count and board area. The gain block requires a single positive DC supply from 3 V to 5 V and consumes 40 mW of power. The ARF1014 from Altum RF is an MMIC Power Amplifier that operates from 27 to 31.5 GHz. It delivers a saturated output power of 12 W with a gain of 18 dB and power-added efficiency (PAE) of 25%. The amplifier die is fabricated using GaN-on-SiC process technology and is ideal for Satcom terminals and other Ka-band applications. It requires a bias voltage of -1.9/22 V and draws 230 mA of current. The TMC810-1 from mmTron is an RF Balun that operates from 3 to 18 GHz. It converts a balanced signal to an unbalanced signal (and vice-versa) with a phase match of 1° and an amplitude balance of 0.4 dB. This 50-ohm balun is fabricated with high power, high Q GaAs process, and has a common mode rejection of 35 dB. It has an insertion loss of 2 dB and a return loss of 10 dB. This balun has AC-coupled balanced ports that eliminate the need for external blocking capacitors. 100 MHz Phase Lock Oscillator with Vibration Compensation System

The 501-35195 from Quantic Wenzel (Wenzel Associates, Inc.) is a Phase Lock Oscillator (PLO) with an input frequency of 10 MHz and an output frequency of 100 MHz. It uses Quantic Wenzel’s proprietary bootstrap oscillator technology that consists of two rugged OCXOs of the same frequency phase locked together. This PLO has special compensation techniques that minimize vibration-induced phase noise by mechanically aligning the two oscillators and summing a compensation voltage with the electrical tuning to the oscillators. It requires a DC supply of +12 V, consumes less than 10 W (for 5 minutes of warm-up), and less than 8 W (steady-state) of power. Read more

It delivers a nominal output power of 12 W (at 3 dB gain compression) with a power gain of 30 dB and a drain efficiency of 32%. This MMIC is manufactured using Ampleon's state-of-the-art LDMOS technology and has independent control of the carrier and peaking bias.
