TMYTEK, an innovative developer of millimeter-wave solutions for 5G/B5G and satellite communication applications, has launched the mmWave UD Development Board for educational institutions. This development board comes with a complete mmWave and baseband Developer kit that provides a platform to explore beamforming, beam management, and mmWave propagation. The mmWave kit includes RF components such as power amplifier, signal source, power detector, AA-kit (a patch antenna array panel), BBoard beamformer, and a COCO antenna. The development kit offers the ability to expand the frequency range of testing instruments to 24-30 GHz, at an incredibly affordable price.
The baseband kit includes the UD development board that upconverts or downconverts the incoming frequency to and from the antennas along with a signal generator that operates from 0.18-18 GHz. This kit is compatible with NI’s Ettus USRP Software-Defined Radio (SDR), allowing for configurability of the communication setup, if needed.
Both the mmWave and the baseband kit share the same Local Oscillator (LO) frequency for perfect timing synchronization.
Key Features of the UD Development Board
- Frequency: 23-30 GHz
- Multi-band RF operation
- Wideband IF range
- Tx/ Rx half duplex operation
- X4 LO frequency multiplier
The board offers a next-generation wireless solution to meet various applications such as beamforming theory, understanding the fundamentals of mmWave communication, and array antenna theory. The baseband kit can be used to design a variety of applications such as radar digital processing testbed, mmWave system prototyping, 5G FR2 communication testbed, and SATCOM Ka-band testbed.
