Charter Engineering Offers RF Electromechanical Switches for Defense/Military Applications

Charter Engineering Inc (CEI), a manufacturer of precision electromechanical switches and components, has developed RF coaxial electromechanical (EM) switches for next-generation or existing applications in airborne, ground, and naval systems. These switches are being used in various systems such as the F35 Fighter, US Army Gray Eagle, Patriot Missile, and other programs as well. All CEI switches offer the option for enhanced capabilities for defense applications.

The RF switches are manufactured by qualified engineers and technicians and have undergone in-house/third-party tests for safety and reliability. They are ITAR registered and operate over a wide temperature range, catering to both industrial and defense environments.

Key Features of these RF Electro Mechanical Switches

  • Operating from -65°C all the way up to +90°C
  • High Altitude and Acceleration
  • Humidity: MIL-STD-202, Method 103, MIL-STD-810G, Method 501.6
  • Random Vibration, Operational Vibration, Sine Vibration
  • Shock, Moisture Resistance, Magnetic Sensitivity, EMI
  • Additional testing per your requirement
  • All products designed and manufactured in the USA
  • ITAR compliant

The switches also provide actuating mechanisms and corresponding features within the systems. They include,

  • 12.0 VDC, 15.0 VDC, 24.0 VDC, or 28.0 VDC
  • Failsafe, latching, or momentary switches
  • Suppression Diodes
  • Indicators
  • Latching Self Cutoff
  • Solder Terminals, D-Sub, Micro D-Sub, and military power interface
  • Low, very low, and ultra low PIM (-160 dBc min.)
  • High power connectors
  • Extended temperature range

Charter Engineering has been acquired by dB Control and has the experience, knowledge, and manufacturing capabilities to develop RF EM Switches for a wide range of applications. Their switches are highly robust and repeatable capable of handling the most demanding environmental challenges. The high power coaxial EM switches are available in numerous configurations offering industry leading RF performance in return loss (VSWR), insertion loss, and isolation.

The company was showcasing its latest innovations in RF switches at AOC 2023 in dB Control's booth.
