Ethertronics has launched EtherChip EC446 RF chip, the world’s first device that integrates high-performance RF switching, tunable capacitance, and a full-featured microcontroller for M2M products, wireless phones, tablets, notebooks, IoT, and other wireless devices. Ethertronics will be showcasing its new EtherChip EC446 and other innovative solutions in its booth during CTIA Super Mobility 2015 (Booth #5538) in Las Vegas from 9-11 September 2015.
The chipset uses Ethertronics IMD antenna technology and embedded algorithms, to provide a complete active antenna system that can be as adaptive and autonomous as the application requires. The EC446, IMD antennas and algorithms enable the control and optimization of critical system performance attributes such as radiation pattern, center frequency, impedance matching, and more. This control provides revolutionary improvements in data throughput, interference reduction, handoff between towers, connection reliability and spectral efficiency.
The EC446 operates from 100 MHz to 7000 MHz and supports Bluetooth, GSM/WCDMA/LTE, WiFi, RFID and GPS. It has a small footprint at just 3.0 x 3.0x 0.75 mm in a 24-pin QFN package. Minimal power consumption is required for operation. The EC446 has a flexible control interface that is customizable between SPI, I2C, UART and MIPI protocols. Multiple interface options provide flexibility; allowing OEMs and integrators to speed up integration and testing. Worldwide applications support and user development tools are also available, including: evaluation boards, antenna reference designs, host firmware driver, PC control software and driver.
