Keysight Technologies will collaborate with China Southeast University to research test and measurement technologies for 5G Massive MIMO. The work will accelerate research progress of the Massive MIMO related algorithms, system design and antenna technologies, and will enhance 5G core research in China.
Massive MIMO uses a large number of antenna elements, working coherently, to generate steerable signal beams for multiple simultaneous users. Massive MIMO is a challenging, but very promising new technology for 5G mobile communications. Massive MIMO promises to improve spectral efficiency, increase capacity and improve energy efficiency.
The research collaboration is based on China Southeast University’s advanced Massive MIMO technologies and is supported by Keysight’s University Relationship Research Program. This research will help Southeast University address test and measurement issues in Massive MIMO’s system design and implementation. It also will allow Keysight to accelerate and deepen technical insights in simulation, test and measurement methodologies of 5G Massive MIMO, specifically the massive antenna array and multi-channel phase shifters’ calibration and measurement.
Southeast University is one of China’s major research institutions on 5G. The partnership with Keysight should promote the development of 5G research.
