NuCurrent Wins 2015 Chicago Innovation Award for Wireless Power Technology

NuCurrentNuCurrent, a company that develops wireless power antenna technology, has been named a winner of the 2015 Chicago Innovation Up-and-Comer Awards. The awards celebrate the most innovative new products and services in the Chicago region across all organization sizes, sectors and industries. Winners for each of the Chicago Innovation Awards categories were announced at a gala event on October 27 at Harris Theater in Chicago.

Now in its 14th year, the Chicago Innovation Awards brings together Chicago’s business and civic leaders to recognize the most innovative new products and services introduced in the market. This year’s program attracted more than 500 nominees, which was narrowed down by a panel of accomplished judges representing a balanced portfolio of Chicago area companies. The winning organizations receive a variety of honors including the opportunity to ring the NASDAQ Bell in New York City, and meetings with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner and Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle. Past award winners include Molex, Braintree, Groupon, GoGo, Cleversafe, Motorola and Orbitz.

Wireless power is changing the way the people interact with electronics from wearables to phones to IoT and even automobiles. NuCurrent patented antennas provide the smallest form factors, lowest heating and fastest charging in the world. They were recently named a finalist for two 2015 Illinois Technology Association (ITA) CityLIGHTS Awards, which honors companies and individuals whose innovation and success drive growth in the technology industry and in Illinois. NuCurrent was also named to the 2015 Crain’s Chicago Business Eureka Index, which identifies Chicago’s most proficient producers of patents, based on headcount. After being awarded 14 patents in 2014, NuCurrent was named No. 1 on the index with the highest per-capita output of any Chicago-area company. The company was also listed in the top 10 percent overall in patent quality score, which considers the uniqueness of the invention covered by a patent and other important factors.
