MACOM Acquires Aeroflex’s Diode Business from Cobham

MACOM-Cobham-Aeroflex-DiodesM/A-COM Technology has announced that it has acquired Aeroflex’s diode business for $38 million in cash from Cobham. Cobham announced the acquisition of Aeroflex in May, 2014 for $1.3 Billion. After which, they sold of the Aeroflex Inmet and Aeroflex Weinschel divisions to API for $80 Million. It seems that the part of Aeroflex that will be left with Cobham will be their Test & Measurement division which is now called Cobham Wireless.

The Diode business had approximately $37 million in revenue for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2014. This acquisition will extend MACOM’s leadership position in RF and microwave diodes, by complementing existing product portfolio with addition of JAN-certified diodes and transistors. Once their facilities are fully integrated, MACOM will be able to drive beneficial COGS efficiencies that will make the transaction accretive to MACOM’s non-GAAP operating margins and earnings per share.

MACOM funded the purchase price of the acquisition with available cash.
