Teledyne to Feature Ka-Band SSPA & BUC at Satellite 2016

Satellite 2016Teledyne Microwave Solutions (TMS) has announced that it will be unveiling a new GaN-based Ka-band SSPA at Satellite 2016. The SSPA's deliver unsurpassed linear power levels when combined with the Teledyne Dual Band BUC with an integrated IF linearizer.

The hermetically sealed GaN Ka-band SSPA produces more than 41 dBm linear power by itself over the complete 29 to 31 GHz bandwidth and full operating temperature range. When coupled with Teledyne’s Ka Dual Band Block Upconverter (BUC) and its integrated IF linearizer, the SSPA linear power level increases to >42dBm. This product will be available for delivery in spring of 2016. The combined SSPA / BUC / Linearizer offering is particularly valuable in airborne and any other communication link application where size, weight, and power are critical factors.

The total weight of the 29-31GHz Ka SSPA is a maximum 2.0 lbs, and size is 6.6” long x 3.7” wide x 1.0” high. It has an integrated waveguide dual directional coupler at the output. The forward coupler detects and reports output power and provides an RF feedback signal to the adaptive IF linearizer when used with the dual band BUC. The unit also includes a hard wired, TTL controlled pin for disabling the unit should the communication link to the RS-422 interface fail.

The Dual Band BUC with integrated IF linearizer is designed to produce 29 to 30 GHz or 30 to 31 GHz from a 1-2 GHz IF band, and the bands are selected with an RS-422 command. The total weight is a maximum 1.5 lbs and the size is 6.0” long x 4.0” wide x 1.0” high. It has a wide operating voltage of +20.5V to +31.5V.
