SkyTraq Launches GNSS RTK Receiver with cm-level Accuracy

S2525F8-RTK

SkyTraq Technology has introduced the S2525F8-RTK, a low-cost, low-power, single frequency GNSS RTK receiver for applications requiring centimeter-level accuracy positioning.

This multi-constellation GNSS RTK receiver can receive 12 GPS signals, 8 SBAS signals, 6 BDS signals, and 1 QZSS signal. In situations where a RTK fix is not possible, a Float RTK mode can be used for decimeter-level accuracy and positioning. A moving-base mode is also supported for a precise heading GPS compass application. The chipset measures 25mm x 25mm, and weighs just 3 grams. it consumes only 250mW of powermaking it ideal for outdoor mobile applications requiring high precision RTK positioning.

The S2525F8-RTK supports both base station and rover modes. As a rover, it receives RTCM 3.0 or 3.1 data from a base station, or raw measurements from another S2525F8-RTK receiver serving as the base station, and performs carrier phase RTK processing to achieve relative positioning with 1cm position accuracy within a 10 Km baseline, and decimeter-level accuracy for a baseline of over 10Km. Two S2525F8-RTK receivers can be used to form a GPS compass that provides better accuracy and a more reliable heading solution than conventional digital magnetometers that are affected by changes in the magnetic environment.

The S2525F8-RTK is now in mass production. A $50 NS-HP evaluation board in breakout board is available for easy evaluation and integration into portable survey equipment, unmanned vehicle, machine control, and robotic guidance applications. The standard nmea-navsat-driver package of Robot Operating System (ROS) works directly with NS-HP, enabling easy accessible centimeter-level accuracy positioning for robotic applications.

Sample, datasheet, and reference designs are also available.
