Skyworks has launched its newest SkyOne® front-end solution for the booming LTE market in China. The SkyOne® Ultra 2.5 family includes both global and region-specific architectures that will provide customers with the ability to leverage the same printed circuit board across multiple smartphone platforms optimized for diverse end markets. SkyOne devices are compatible with all Qualcomm WCDMA/LTE smartphone platforms with general purpose input/output (GPIO) interface.
Leveraging highly successful and proven technologies, the new multiband RF modules utilize the powerful SkyBlue™ enabling technology to enhance system efficiency and battery life. As the devices allow customers to scale solutions with regional variations, they will be particularly fit for Internet of Things applications that require full LTE connectivity. The innovative modules are also highly customizable with flexible system solutions for machine to machine and automotive applications.
The SkyOne® Ultra 2.5 solutions consist of the following:
- SKY87020 - A high-efficiency RF front-end power management IC for average power tracking RF power amplifier applications in portable battery powerred devices.
- SKY77360 - A power amplifier module designed for 2G quad-band cellular handsets.
- SKY78113 - A multimode multiband (MMMB) front-end module for WCDMA / LTE Bands 8,12,13, 20, 26, 28, 29.
- SKY78114 - An MMMB front-end module for WCDMA / LTE Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 34, 39.
- SKY78117 - An MMMB front-end module for FDD/TDD LTE Bands 7, 30, 38, 40, 41.
Sources from GSMA Intelligence estimate that the number of global 4G LTE connections will reach 2.5 billion by 2020, with 60 percent of those connections coming from developing regions, largely driven by TD-LTE growth in China.
