NuWaves Engineering has completed the Independent Research and Development (IRaD) phase for their miniaturized VHF/UHF RF Bi-directional Amplifier (BDA) - NuPower Xtender VU4GX02 model. The amplifier features high linearity performance, small size and weight, high adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR), broad supply voltage range, and is a low-cost solution for communications, telemetry, and electronic warfare markets. They have finished manufacturing the first 20 units for initial qualification testing and preliminary demo units.
The Xtender VU4GX02 provides 4 Watts of linear power over the frequency range of 225 MHz to 512 MHz, and greater than 10 Watts of saturated output power for applications where linearity is not required (i.e., constant envelope waveforms). Measuring a tiny 2.34” x 2.34” x 0.70” at 2.88 ounces, this BDA module provides the system integrator with a small, lightweight assembly for highly embedded designs that offers rugged reliability under harsh conditions. Targeting an adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR) of -33 dBc at 4 watts average power output, the BDA is capable of achieving higher data throughput and a clearer reliable signal. It also features a broad supply voltage range of +10 to +32 VDC, capable of supporting an array of RF communications, telemetry and electronic warfare applications, including systems running on battery power.
The NuPower Xtender VU4GX02 will be available from the second quarter of 2017.
