PCTEL Unveils Antenna for Smart Grid Networks and Industrial IoT

PCTEL has launched its new MIMO directional panel antenna for the upper 700 MHz A Block licensed spectrum. The new antenna supports a wide variety of automation and monitoring solutions for critical infrastructure applications and the industrial Internet of Things (IoT). It is being deployed in wireless Field Area Networks (FAN), which extend smart grid connectivity deep into distribution networks and enable new functionality such as advanced metering, distribution automation, substation automation, and distributed generation.

This MIMO panel antenna joins the recently-announced MIMO Yagi antenna in the company’s growing portfolio of antennas supporting the Upper 700 MHz A Block spectrum. Both panel and Yagi antennas provide point-to-point and point-to-multipoint connectivity over long distances. Due to its compact size and aesthetically pleasing appearance, the new MIMO panel antenna is ideally suited for urban and residential environments. Its durable IP67-rated housing also provides protection against harsh environments.

PCTEL will demonstrated the new MIMO panel antenna, along with other antenna solutions for utilities and smart grids at the UTC Telecom & Technology Conference in Charlotte on 10-11 May. The new MIMO panel antenna will be available for sale in June 2017. Order using product number PLTE757M (We could not find the datasheet of this product yet).
