Advantech Introduces 200 Watt GaN Based Ka-Band Ultra Linear SSPA/BUCs

Advantech Wireless has introduced their Second Generation of Gallium Nitride (GaN) Technology based 125 W to 200 W Ka-Band Ultra-Linear Solid State Power Amplifier / Block Up-converter (SSPA/BUC) products. The new SSPB-4010Ka series follows Advantech’s successful 100 W Ka-Band GaN-based units, adopted by several military organizations.

The new Ultra-Linear GaN based SSPAs are designed to operate in harsh outdoor environments and have been designed for Ka-Band LEO and GEO satellite up-link applications. They are integrated units, complete with detachable power supply, phase-locked oscillator, mixer, filter and proprietary cooling mechanism. Intended for outdoor operation, the second generation systems are one of the most advanced GaN based Ka-Band units in the market providing higher power and higher reliability.

The SSPB-4010Ka is designed for Ka-Band satellite up-link applications. They are mounted outdoors, in the hub, or near the hub of an antenna. These SSPA/BUCs are available in redundant configurations with a single Monitor and Control interface.

Highlights of the new SSPB-4010Ka series include:

  • Converts L-Band signal Ka-Band from 27.5 – 31 GHz (in bands)
  • Meets the requirements per MIL-STD-188-164A and WGS
  • Integrated amplifier with an output power of 100W to 200W
  • Phase-locked oscillator to external 10MHz reference (optional)
  • High linearity (very low Intermodulation products)
  • Weatherproof package, IP67 compliant
  • Remote Monitor & Control
  • Protection against overdrive, thermal runaway and out-of-lock conditions
  • Output sample monitoring port
  • Detachable power supply
  • CE Marking
