Guerrilla RF Introduces New Amplifiers for Small Cell Applications

Guerrilla RF has added two new amplifiers to its growing line of RF amplifier products. The GRF4142 and the GRF4014 amplifiers are targeted at small cells, cellular boosters and other broadband, high-performance applications operating in the 100 MHz to 3800 MHz range. The amplifiers are offered in an ultra-small 1.5 x 1.5 mm DFN-6 package, sharing a common pin out with numerous other Guerrilla RF devices including the GRF400X and GRF201X device families.

These new products address the industry's need for a cost-effective, broadband Low Noise Amplifier/driver and an integrated bypass broadband driver delivering outstanding RF performance with low-power consumption over a wide frequency range. Their flexible biasing capability allows for high levels of reuse with optimal efficiency over a wide range of linearity requirements.

The GRF4142 is a low noise amplifier/driver that can be tuned from 100 MHz to 3800 MHz. It can be operated with a Vdd (drain supply) from 1.8 to 5.0 volts and Iddq (quiescent supply current) can be controlled independently from Vdd, thus allowing the device efficiency to optimized for a given application requirement. The amplifier can easily cover fractional bandwidths more than 20 percent, with a single set of external components. At 1900 MHz, it provides a gain of 16 dB, P1dB of 21.5 dBm, OIP3 of 34 dBm with a noise figure: 0.95 dB while operating at 5.0 volts and consuming 50 mA of current.

The GRF4014 is a low noise amplifier/linear driver that can be tuned from 100 MHz to 3800 MHz. It can be operated over a range of Vdd (drain supply) from 3.0 to 8.0 volts and Iddq (quiescent supply current) can be controlled independently from Vdd, thus allowing the device efficiency to optimized for a given application requirement. The device can cover 1700 to 3800 MHz with a single set of external components. At 2500 MHz, it provides a gain of 17.0 dB, P1dB of 24.8 dBm, OIP3 of 38 dBm with a noise figure: 0.73 dB while operating at 5.0 volts and consuming 65 mA of current.

While the GRF4142 samples and evaluation boards are priced at 10,000 parts for $0.65, GRF4014 samples and evaluation boards will retail for 10,000 parts in $1.05. Productions are scheduled for Q3 2017.
