Lighthouse Technology has completed the development of a series of front-end processors for software receivers, processing up to 4 frequency GNSS signals simultaneously. This new system called "Hibiki" will be available for sale starting April 2018.
Each GNSS Technology uses multiple frequency bands - The Japanese Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS), broadcasts GNSS signals in 4 frequency bands, L1, L2, L5 and L6. Similarly, GPS and Russian GLONASS GNSS solutions broadcast in 3 bands, the European Galileo and Chinese BeiDou systems broadcast in 4 bands. Though each technology uses 3 or 4 bands, most conventional front-ends are able to process only two bands at the same time, and can not be used for highly specialized applications such as processing multiple signals with different frequencies at the same time.
Lighthouse developed “Hibiki” to address this issue. Hibiki has an unprecedented capability to process up to 4 frequency bands simultaneously. The system has an overwhelming data transfer rate using USB 3.0 and can stably transmit signal data to a host computer with sampling speeds of 50 million samples per second. These high sampling frequency is also unprecedented in the conventional front-end processors, which helps improve L5 signal receiving performance and multipath reduction.
