Telrad Fixed LTE Solutions to Power City-Wide Municipal Applications in Texas

The City of Euless in Texas has selected Global LTE telecom solutions provider, Telrad Networks’ fixed LTE solution for their city-wide municipal applications, allowing for remote control and automation. Euless is a city located just northeast of Dallas, Texas. Currently with a population of more than 54,000, the city has been experiencing a growth spurt as more people move to Euless from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, resulting in operational scaling issues.

Euless selected Telrad’s fixed LTE solution, including its flagship BreezeCOMPACT 1000 base station. The LTE deployment has enabled the city to automate traffic lights, school zone flashers, the aggregated collection of water meter data, and more.

The key considerations for selecting the Telrad solution were:

  • Scalability - easily allowing for the addition of equipment
  • Capable of running all applications on a single wireless network
  • Standards-based – so the city could add other LTE equipment at any point in the future
  • Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform, allowing for software-only upgrades

Following the success of the LTE solution, new applications have been introduced to further improve city productivity and automation. As a result of these successes, Euless is now looking into expanding the network with the addition of a number of base stations.

Telrad solutions, operating in the sub-6 GHz bands, offer reliable fixed wireless broadband connectivity, cost-optimized configurations, lower total cost of ownership, and NLOS capability. With maximum coverage and capacity, operators maintain more efficient, cost-effective networks that deliver an optimal user experience.
