AWR Sponsorship of Student Design Competitions in China Jumpstarts Engineering Careers

AWR Corporation announced the sponsorship of two major student design competitions in China as part of the company’s continuing focus on working with universities worldwide to empower students with RF/microwave software tool experience and jumpstart their engineering careers.

AWR’s objective in sponsoring these competitions is to encourage students in China to become involved in the dynamic profession of microwave and RF engineering and to apply their knowledge to practical designs using the highly efficient AWR design methodology. The ease-of-use and powerful technologies integrated in the single AWR Design Environment™ sets AWR software apart from other conventional design software and uniquely positions it for use by students just starting out in the complex world of high frequency design.

AWR Student Design Competition in China

AWR recently co-sponsored the University Student Design Competition in China at Nanjing Postal University and SouthEast University, offering cash prizes to the first, second, and third place winners. The winning papers and an interview with design competition winner Wang Lei from SouthEast University are available on AWR’s Chinese language site at http://www.awrcorp.com/cn/china-university-design-competition-2012.

“AWR’s University Student Design Competition proved to be very popular among Nanjing Postal University and SouthEast University students and the number of entries was remarkable,” said Francis Leong, Greater China regional manager at AWR. “This was the first time we organized a design competition in China and not only was the response overwhelming, but the quality of the designs submitted was excellent. Selecting the winning entries was not easy. We would like to thank Professors Hong Wei, Dou Wenbin and Yin Xiaoxing from SouthEast University, and Professors Cheng Yong and Liu Leilei from Nanjing Postal University.”

IEEE International Wireless Symposium 2013 – Student Design Competition

AWR is also sponsoring the student design contest at the IEEE International Wireless Symposium 2013 (IWS2013) in Beijing, April 14-16, 2013. Eleven candidates have submitted papers for this competition and AWR will award the winners with cash prizes in the amount of $1000 for first place, $750 for second place, and $500 for third place, to be shared amongst all the members of each team. Each winning team member is also entitled to receive a full one-year license of AWR’s Microwave Office® software suite following the completion of an AWR training class.
