Telit NB-IoT Module Receives Regulatory Approval for Use in Thailand

The Telit NE866B1-E1 NB-IoT module has now been approved by Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) for use in the country. The approval highlights Telit's success in providing southeast-Asian companies with access to LTE Category NB1 (NB-IoT) technologies.

The NE866B1-E1 is ideal for space-constrained IoT applications such as telematics, smart energy and wearables for connected health and fitness. It also enables those applications to take advantage of NB-IoT, a new version of LTE designed to enable reliable connections deep inside buildings and extend battery life to over 10 years.

With the addition of NBTC approval, the NE866B1-E1 is now authorized for use in Thailand, China and Singapore, giving the region's IoT providers the ability to leverage NB-IoT to develop innovative, market-differentiating products. It also enables those companies to quickly develop NB-IoT versions of Telit xE866-powered solutions that were initially created for 2G, 3G or LTE Cat 1.

According to Derick Tsang, Telit Senior VP of sales for the APAC region, by approving the Telit NE866B1-E1, Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission is giving the country's businesses, consumers and municipalities, access to the revolutionary new technology of LTE NB-IoT. It's the latest milestone toward Telit's goal of ensuring that all of APAC can enjoy the benefits of LTE NB-IoT, including decade-plus battery life and fast, reliable connections indoors and out.

Telit is exhibiting its latest portfolio at Asian Utility Week event on June 27 & 28 in Bangkok, Thailand.
