Nanjing Ericsson Panda Communications (NEPCC), the largest manufacturer of mobile communication base stations and system equipment in Asia, developed a novel quadrature coupled-line hybrid device with the aide of AWR software. Nick Zhou, NEPCC project lead, used AWR’s Microwave Office® circuit design software combined with AXIEM® planar EM simulation to develop the innovative, vertical stacked-multi-section structure that resulted in the improved performance and decreased device size.
“With AWR software we were able to optimize a novel LTCC quadrature hybrid design and achieve the difficult challenge of an 80 percent reduction in space and 40 percent wider bandwidth than conventional designs. AWR simulation results agreed well with measurements and the support from local engineers was outstanding.”
