UL Now Authorized to Certify CBRS Band LTE Products

UL is now recognized as a WInnForum Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) Approved Lab and a CBRS Alliance Authorized Test Lab (ATL). With this designation, UL is ready to offer the WInnForum CBSD Certification Program for CBRS band LTE products.

The CBRS Alliance is a non-profit industry organization that supports the development, commercialization and adoption of LTE solutions for the U.S. 3.5 GHz band. WInnForum, a standards development organization, has been licensed to facilitate the approval of CBRS Alliance ATLs and created a common framework for RF and performance testing for compliance with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Part 96.

CBRS is a licensed broadcast band ranging from 3550 MHz to 3700 MHz, historically used by the U.S. government for radar systems. It was commercialized in 2017 by the FCC to lower the barrier to entry for wireless carriers. The CBRS Alliance collaborated with CTIA and multiple global test labs to develop the OnGo Certification for CBRS LTE products. As one of the first wave of labs authorized by the CBRS Alliance to administer the WInnForum CBSD Certification Program, UL will also offer the OnGo Certification to products that meet the rigorous interoperability requirements.

The WInnForum CBSD Certification Program consists of a three-tier architecture developed for the 3.5 GHz CBRS band. Through continued collaboration with WInnForum and the CBRS Alliance, UL aims to contribute to the advancement of this technology for all applicable spectrum bands in the wireless ecosystem.

UL has over 20 years of experience in testing wireless products and technologies and is accredited as an FCC Telecommunications Certification Body (TCB).
