Gore Unveils Reliable, Cost-Effective Cables and Assemblies for Space Applications

W. L. Gore & Associates (Gore) has launched a collection of high-speed data cables and high-frequency microwave/RF assemblies for the emerging Space market. A number of space companies such as SpaceX use smaller, sleeker, lower-cost satellites and vehicles with fast-paced designs and frequent, inexpensive launch capabilities. Such customers require qualified, reliable cables and assemblies at a reduced price delivered quickly for NewSpace applications to help bring connectivity to the world in a way that has never been done in the past.

Gore combines decades of traditional spaceflight program experience, materials expertise, and a deep understanding of products and appropriately scoped test processes to meet demanding Space program schedules varying from 1 to 5 years. GORE Space Cables and Assemblies offer extremely robust options in small, low-mass, flexible designs for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) applications. All of the solutions are qualified according to NASA EEE-INST-002 Level 2, ESA ECSS-Q-ST-60-13C Class 3, and Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6+.

GORE Spaceflight Microwave/RF Assemblies offer the smallest diameter sizes and operate reliably from DC to 40 GHz with low loss for high-density, high-frequency and high-power applications. The company also offers a variety of connector systems engineered to complement the performance of each assembly type, minimizing loss and reflection for optimized signal transmission.

Products such as GORE Hook-Up Wires ensure power is delivered up to 600 volts safely and reliably in the most demanding orbit environments. GORE High Speed Data Cables improve signal quality and transmit critical information while meeting and exceeding standard protocols such as Ethernet Cat6a, XAIU, USB, and HDMI.

The new solutions from Gore are durable, chemically inert and thermally resistant against extreme temperatures, shock, vibration, radiation, atomic oxygen, and outgassing. Also, the advanced cable technologies substantially reduce size and weight to help minimize problems associated with balancing challenging mass budgets.

The GORE Space Cables and Assemblies for NewSpace and traditional spaceflight applications will be on display at the 2019 Space Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colorado on April 8-11 in Booth 1445.
