Hittite Microwave has announced two new GaAs MMIC power amplifiers that are ideal for high capacity point-to-point/point-to-multi-point radios, SATCOM and radar systems covering the 12 to 16 GHz and 40 to 43.5 GHz frequency ranges.
The HMC5879LS7 is a 4 stage GaAs pHEMT MMIC Watt Power Amplifier that operates between 12 and 16 GHz. The amplifier provides 28 dB of gain, +37 dBm of saturated output power, and 22% PAE from a +7V supply. The HMC5879LS7 exhibits excellent linearity making it ideal for high capacity digital microwave radios. It can also be used in 13.75 to 14.5 GHz Ku Band VSAT transmitters.
The HMC5929LS6 is a 4 stage GaAs pHEMT MMIC 1 Watt Power Amplifier which operates between 40 and 43.5 GHz. It provides 19 dB of gain, +30 dBm of saturated output power, and 15% PAE from a +6V supply. With an excellent OIP3 of +36 dBm, the HMC5929LS6 exhibits excellent linearity making it ideal for high capacity digital microwave radios, military and space systems.
Both amplifiers require no external matching components and are housed in ceramic air cavity packages which exhibit low thermal resistance and are compatible with surface mount manufacturing techniques. The HMC5879LS7 is ideal for inclusion in new microwave radio designs with the 10 to 16 GHz HMC924LC5 I/Q Upconverter, while the HMC5929LS6 power amplifier is ideal for operation with the 40 to 44 GHz HMC6146BLC5A I/Q Upconverter. Correspondingly, the 12 to 16 GHz HMC869LC5 and 37 to 44 GHz HMC6147ALC5A I/Q Downconverters can be used to build the receive chains. LO generation may be accomplished with Hittite's unique low phase noise Microwave PLLs with Integrated VCOs, which include the HMC764LP6CE, HMC765LP6CE and HMC778LP6CE devices.
Samples and evaluation PC boards for all SMT packaged products are available from stock and can be ordered directly from Hittite.
