Nordic Semiconductor has announced a new distribution agreement with an India-based electronic components supplier, Millennium Semiconductors. Millennium specializes in design, proof of concept, and after-sales technical support across a broad range of industries including automotive, IoT, smart lighting, and consumer electronics. The deal covers distribution and design support for Nordic’s entire portfolio of low power cellular IoT and low power short range wireless solutions.
Millennium Semiconductors has more than 150 employees based across India and Asia Pacific, including its headquarters in Pune, nine regional offices including Delhi, Jaipur, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Mumbai, two state-of-the-art distribution centers in Pune and Delhi, as well as overseas offices in Singapore and Shenzhen, China. The company will now have a dedicated, India-based FAE and Product Manager to oversee Nordic’s product range.
Millennium will supply Nordic’s complete range of low power wireless connectivity hardware, firmware, development tools, and reference designs, including the nRF9160 System-in-Package (SiP) LTE-M/NB-IoT and GPS cellular IoT module, the nRF52840 SoC—an advanced multiprotocol device supporting Bluetooth 5, ANT, IEEE 802.15.4, and 2.4 GHz proprietary technologies—as well as the nRF52811 SoC, a fully-featured connectivity solution that supports Bluetooth 5.1 Direction Finding.
Accordic to Bjørn Åge “Bob” Brandal, Sales Manager APAC, Nordic Semiconductor, the company sees a huge opportunity in India with more designs being done locally, not only for the domestic market but increasingly also for the global market. By increasing its presence through distributors fully focused on the region rather than globally Nordic is ensuring that it can offer the best support to its customers. In addition to the distributor agreement with Millennium Semiconductors, Nordic has further strengthened its presence in India with the appointment of Gaurav Kapoor as the Regional Sales Manager – India, to be based in Bangalore.
