Cinch Connectivity Solutions has announced the availability of a new commercial grade surge arrester. Part of a new product series for commercial applications, the Midwest Microwave Surge Arrester can be an integral part of protecting next generation 5G networks.
Power surges or indirect lightning strikes can create network problems by causing network downtimes with the potential for significant revenue losses. The Midwest Microwave surge arrester protects RF/Microwave systems from surges without sacrificing RF performance. It is constructed using tri-alloy plated brass, provides multi-strike lighting capability and is RoHS compliant.

- 50 Ohms nominal impedance
- Insertion loss of 0.3 dB
- Surge capability 8/20μs of 10 kA nominal
- Insertion loss of 0.3 dB
- VSWR of 1.2
Some applications for the surge arrester are cellular base stations, public safety systems, Wi-Fi networks, active antenna systems, 5G networks and GPS systems.
