The ME7873L RF/RRM Test System from Anritsu has achieved Global Certification Forum (GCF) approval for three additional LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation (CA) band combinations. The new approvals increase the total offered on the ME7873L to five, including band combinations supporting North American, Japanese, and Korean operators, and further solidify Anritsu’s leadership position in LTE-Advanced CA device certification.
Approval of the ME7873L for the new band combinations was achieved by validating 80% of the Priority 1 RF/RRM test cases in GCF WI-162 for new band combinations, including 4-13, 1-18, and 1-26. These approvals build on previous approvals for band combinations 1-5 and 3-8, which were achieved in January 2014.
They plan to expand the number of GCF and PTCRB validations on the ME7873L LTE RF/RRM Conformance Test System and ME7834L Mobile Device Test Platform to support the industry in upcoming deployments of LTE-Advanced.
LTE-Advanced CA enables high-speed data rates that meet the goals mandated by IMT-Advanced (as specified by the International Telecommunication Union) while maintaining backward compatibility with 3GPP Release 8 and 9. LTE-Advanced CA also allows mobile operators with fragmented spectrum holdings to use those valuable resources more efficiently. Many operators worldwide plan to deploy CA, and rollouts in the Americas and Asia are in progress.
The ME7873L is a scalable GCF- and PTCRB-validated test system that enables certification of LTE devices to industry and carrier standards. Test coverage is available for 3GPP 36.521-1 (TX, RX, and Performance) and 36.521-3 (Radio Resource Management – RRM), as well as operator-specific RF and RRM tests. Support for both Frequency Domain Duplex (FDD) and Time Domain Duplex (TDD) LTE is now available, including a wide range of test cases from Release 8, 9, and 10.
