The BodyWave™ 2.4 GHz Antenna (AW-BW-24-V2) from AntennaWare has been designed for wearable applications. It solves the issue of body blocking by generating waves that flow efficiently around the body and support a communication link even when the body is blocking the signal. This antenna utilizes the unique BodyWave™ propagation technology, that enables wireless communications when there is no direct line of sight with on-body and off-body receivers. It can increase coverage in directions obscured by the human body, with an increased link budget in those directions when compared to existing commercially available chip and printed antennas.
The BodyWave™ 2.4 GHz Antenna has high radiation efficiency and is resistant to detuning caused by close human body proximity. It significantly reduces power consumption compared to high TX power amplifier solutions currently used to address body shadowing. This 50-ohm antenna is available in a surface-mount package and is designed for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and ANT+ applications.
