The Bobcat 50Ku from Comtech Xicom Technology is a SATCOM Block Upconverter that converts an input frequency (IF) from 950 to 1700 MHz to an output frequency (RF) from 13.75 to 14.5 GHz. This BUC delivers a saturated output power of 50 W (~47 dBm) with a small signal gain of 55 dB and gain adjustment of 25 dB in 0.1 dB steps. It is built using GaN solid-state devices which enable high power levels even in challenging environments. This BUC has spurious levels of better than -30 dBc, harmonics of -60 dBc, and phase noise of -103 dBc/Hz @ 1 MHz offset.
The Bobcat 50Ku requires a DC supply from 22 to 56 V and consumes 170 W of power. It is available in a rugged MIL-STD-810 certified module that measures 6.8 x 3.88 x 3.9 inches with Ethernet and RS-232 M&C interfaces with an option for SNMP interface.
