The Ka-Band 12 W Block Upconverter (BUC) from SAGE Satcom converts an input IF frequency from 950 – 2000 MHz to an output RF frequency from 29 – 31 GHz. It delivers a linear output power of 12 W with a gain of 55 dB which can be adjusted in 0.25 dB steps. This GaN-based BUC uses solid-state technology to provide high reliability with low power consumption. It has spurious levels of lower than -60 dBc, harmonics of -60 dBc (measured at P-linear), and an SSB phase noise of -112 dBc/Hz @ 1 MHz offset. The BUC requires a DC supply of +48 V (other options available) and consumes less than 155 W of power.
This Ka-Band 12 W Block Upconverter supports command and monitoring through RS-485 and Ethernet interfaces. It is available in an enclosure that measures 7.5 x 5.3 x 4.0 inches with an N-type (female) input connector and WR28 output waveguide interface. This BUC allows for direct mounting to the antenna feed arm resulting in a superior end solution to larger competing products that require pedestal mounting.
