The WBAK-050G01-0004 from Wavestream is a Ka-Band Deck Block Upconverter that up-converts an input frequency from 950 – 1950/1000 – 2000 MHz to an output frequency from 28 – 31 GHz. It is based on Wavestream’s Spatial advantEdge technology which allows the generation of higher output power in lighter, more compact product packages that use less energy and are more reliable. This matchbox BUC can be operated with GEO, and LEO Ka-band satellites and supports both commercial and military Ka-Bands. It is designed to work in the most extreme environments and offers field-proven reliability to support demanding satellite communication applications.
The BUC consists of a linear power amplifier that provides a saturated output power of 47 dBm (~50 W) with a small signal gain of 62.5 dB. It has a noise power density of -76 dBm/Hz (Tx) and -156 dBm/Hz (Rx).
The WBAK-050G01-0004 requires a DC supply from 20 - 56 V and consumes under 360 W of power. It has serial/Ethernet monitor and control, adjustable attenuation, and forward and reverse output power monitoring. This rugged BUC is available in a compact unit that measures 30.5 x 17.8 x 16.5 cm with N-type (female) input connectors and WR-28 output interface and can be mounted directly onto the feed arm of medium aperture antennas.
