The nRF9131 from Nordic Semiconductors is a DECT NR+ and Cellular IoT System-in-Package (SiP) designed to support DECT NR+ and cellular operations utilizing the same LTE stack as nRF9161. It is certified for global operations and simplifies traditional chipset-based designs by offering a smaller form factor, making the SiP ideal for high-volume cellular IoT applications. This SiP integrates a 64 MHz ARM Cortex-M33 core, 1 MB flash memory, and 256 KB RAM, along with robust security features. It also includes a 3GPP Release 14-compliant LTE-M/NB-IoT modem, which provides comprehensive functionality for modern IoT deployments.
The nRF9131 supports SIM, eSIM, and SoftSIM technology that allows convenient connection and authentication with mobile network operators. This SiP also has a GNSS receiver for accurate location tracking and cellular-based positioning. It offers robust IPv4/IPv6 support to the transport and security (TCP/TLS) level. This mini SiP includes ARM TrustZone technology for isolation and protection, secure boot, trusted firmware updates, and root of trust implementations. It has ADC, RTC, SPI, I2C, I2S, UARTE, PDM, and PWM interfaces/peripherals, which provide flexibility to the user for diverse applications. This System-in-Package (SiP) is available in a surface-mount package that measures 11 x 7 mm.
