The EC21 Series from Quectel are LTE Cat 1 Modules that are designed to support global LTE, UMTS/HSPA (+), and GSM/GPRS/EDGE coverage. They are suitable for IoT applications that are not reliant on high-speed connectivity but still require the longevity and reliability of LTE networks. These modules incorporate Qualcomm’s IZat location technology Gen8C Lite with multi-constellation GNSS connectivity, which greatly simplifies the product design and provides quicker, more accurate, and dependable positioning service. They are backward-compatible with existing EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks, ensuring that they can easily migrate from LTE to 2G or 3G networks.
The EC21 Series delivers low-power connectivity in the LTE band and a data rate of 10 Mbps (downlink) and 5 Mbps (uplink). They have a USB 2.0 interface for Windows 7/8/8.1/10/11, Android, and Linux OS to extend the applicability of the module and also include new features such as DFOTA for firmware update. These modules require a DC supply of 3.8 V. They are available in LCC packages that measure 29.0 x 32.0 x 2.4 mm and are ideal for M2M and IoT applications such as smart metering, wearable devices, environmental monitoring, asset tracking, fleet management, smart safety and alarm systems.
