The LEXI-R422 from u-blox is an LTE-M/NB-IoT/EGPRS Module with a 2G fallback for global deployments. It supports 3GPP Release 13 LTE Cat M1/NB1 and 3GPP Release 14 LTE Cat M1/Cat NB2. This module offers LTE-M and NB-IoT coverage with 16 bands and software-based filtering configuration. It has a dynamic antenna tuning interface that optimizes the end-device antenna efficiency and overall RF performance. The module supports PSM and eDRX power-saving modes to lower power consumption and extend battery life to up to 10 years. It requires a DC supply of 3.8 V and consumes 100 μA of current in eDRX mode and 3 μA of current in power save mode (PSM).
The LEXI-R422 delivers a downlink data rate of up to 588 kb/s and an uplink data rate of up to 1119 kb/s. This module provides an output power of 23 dBm in LPWA bands to ensure robust connections and lower-rate repetitions, especially at cell edges. It supports u-blox GNSS services AssistNow Online and Offline and also allows easy access to u-blox’s CellLocate service to estimate position via surrounding cell station data without the need for a GNSS receiver. The module also supports u-blox's MQTT Anywhere or MQTT Flex communication services to further reduce data overhead, time spent on the air, and energy consumption.
This IoT module is available in a 133-pin LGA package that measures 16.0 x 16.0 x 2.0 mm and can be controlled via UART, USB, I2C, USIM, and GPIO interfaces. It is ideal for a wide range of ultra-compact data-centric IoT applications, such as personal/pet trackers, telematics (ODBs), industrial automation and monitoring, smart city and smart building, payments, micro-mobility, and connected health.
