The RG255G Series from Quectel are 5G RedCap Modules. They are based on the 3GPP Release 17-compliant RedCap technology and support both LTE Cat 4 and 5G Sub-6 GHz standalone (SA) modes, providing efficient 4G/5G global coverage. These modules are backward compatible with Release 15 and 16 networks and partial compatibility with Quectel’s 4G EG2x/EC2x series 4G modules with smaller sizes. They support RTOS systems of IoT devices with less RAM and flash memory.
The RG255G Series modules utilize 256 QAM on both DL and UL links, URLLC/slicing, and LTE/ NR-FR1 (20 MHz). They integrate multi-constellation GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, BDS, and Galileo) receivers to simplify product design and achieve high-precision, fast, and dependable positioning. These modules provide a rich set of industry-standard interfaces such as USB 2.0, PCIe 1.0 (for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth), PCM, UART, SPI, and others along with USB drivers for Windows 8/8.1/10/11, Linux, and Android to extend the applicability of the module to a wide range of RedCap applications.
These industrial-grade modules deliver a data rate of 220 Mbps (downlink) and 121 Mbps (uplink). They are available in land grid array (LGA) packages that measure 29 x 32 x 2.4 mm and are ideal for smart grid, video networks, internet of vehicles, POS machines, industrial automation, medium and low-speed FWA, and UAV applications.
