The RYZ014A from Renesas is an LTE Cat M1 Cellular IoT Module with worldwide deployment and roaming capability. It includes an LTE-optimized transceiver, a complete RF front-end to support LTE Cat-M1 bands worldwide, and key interfaces. The module has been developed according to 3GPP E-UTRA (Long Term Evolution - LTE, Release 13) Cat-M1 UE specifications. It delivers a Tx power of 23 dBm and has an Rx sensitivity of up to -104 dBm. This module requires a DC supply of 3.1-4.5 V and consumes 1µA of current in power saving mode.
The RYZ014A can be directly connected to the internet without the need for a gateway by relying on the existing communication infrastructure owned by mobile network operators. This makes it economical to connect each device, which is especially beneficial when installing larger networks that require a low cost per unit.
The module can be controlled via I2C, USIM, SPI, GPIO, UART, ADC, JTAG, RING, and WAKE interfaces. It supports LTE PHY layer features like HD-FDD duplexing, MPDCCH and QPSK & 16QAM modulation techniques. Renesas offers customers a web-based portal that provides easy access to read sensor values and manage SIM card plans remotely, reducing operating cost.
The RYZ014A is available in an LGA package that measures 20.25 x 21.35 mm and is ideal for metering (Electricity/Gas/Water, Automated Meter Reading), smart home (HVAC, Thermostats), infrastructure (Charge Poles, Parking Systems), industry (Pumps), wearables & trackers and agricultural applications.
