The RN941Y from Rolling Wireless is an Automotive-Grade 5G Module with 4G (LTE Cat-19)/3G/2G fallback capability. It complies with the 3GPP Release 17 standard for 5G NR and also supports narrowband-NTN technology, which enables it to provide connectivity using MF-GNSS and HP-GNSS constellations. This module supports 4x4 downlink MIMO (channel bandwidth – 200 MHz) and 2x2 uplink MIMO with the flexibility to connect in both NSA and SA modes in the 5G sub-6 GHz bands. This 5G module consists of Qualcomm’s SA525M chipset, a quad-core ARM Cortex A55 processor with integrated flash and RAM memories.
The RN941Y has LTE-V2X and NR-V2X network protocols as options to offer cellular-V2X connectivity, along with other wireless technologies such as VoNR, NG-eCall, DSDS, and dead reckoning, thereby delivering robust communication in demanding automotive environments. This automotive-grade 5G module includes embedded security features such as secure boot, secure storage, integrity checks, and access control to enhance its protection. It can be controlled via integrated Ethernet, USB 3.1, SDIO, SPI, I2C, and GPIO interfaces on Linux OS. This 5G module is available in a surface mount package that measures 45.0 x 45.0 x 3.3 mm.
