The SIM7080G from SimCom is a Multi-Band Cat-M/NB-IoT Module. It has been designed for applications that require low latency and enables low throughput data communication in a variety of radio propagation conditions. This module supports both Cat-M and NB-IoT technologies in a single package and offers a unique combination of performance, security, and flexibility, providing flexibility and ease of integration for the customer’s application. It includes power-saving mode (PSM) and extended discontinuous reception (eDRX) mode to extend the battery life up to 10 years. The module requires a DC supply of 2.7-4.8 V and consumes 3.2 µA (PSM mode) and 10 mA (idle mode) of current.
The SIM7080G is equipped with a rich set of interfaces such as UART, SIM card, I2C, ADC, USB, GPIO, and embedded SIM (optional) and can be used to control the module using AT commands. It delivers a data rate of 1119 Kbps (uplink) and 589 Kbps (downlink) in Cat-M mode while in the NB-IoT mode, it delivers a data rate of 150 Kbps (uplink) and 136 Kbps (downlink). This RoHS-compliant module is available in a surface-mount package that measures 15.7 x 17.6 mm and is ideal for metering, asset tracking, remote monitoring, and e-health applications.
