The PLS83-W Series from Telit Cinterion are Cellular IoT Modules that support LTE Cat.4 with 2G/3G fallback for global and regional IoT connectivity. They are available in a suite of variants which deliver targeted regional connectivity for North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, India, and Japan when global connectivity is not required. These modules have a 3GPP-compliant protocol stack with integrated support for GNSS (GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, and Galileo) bands. They are suited for applications that require a high bandwidth, longevity, and stability of LTE networks along with continuous coverage in regions where a 4G connection is not present. They require a DC supply from 3.0 to 4.5 V.
The PLS83-W series modules deliver a data rate of 50 Mbps (uplink) and 150 Mbps (downlink) on the FDD mode, and a data rate of 5.76 Mbps (uplink) and 14.4 Mbps (downlink) in the HSDPA mode. They include a comprehensive set of AT commands that provide a simplified control of the devices and offers IP connectivity, voice-over-LTE (VoLTE), and circuit-switched voice. They also integrate an optional embedded SIM (eSIM) technology that strengthens security, encrypts data, securely manages connections to cellular networks, reduces design complexity, and simplifies manufacturing and logistics capabilities. These cellular modules can further streamline the design and development with optional embedded processing functions.
The PLS83-W Series has USB 2.0, high-speed serial modem interface ASCO, 16 GPIO lines shared with DSR, DTR, DCD, ASC1, and PWM, ADC, I2C, digital audio interface, and SGMII interfaces to remotely control and configure the modules. They integrate USB and MUX drivers that support Microsoft Windows 7/8/10 Operating Systems (OS), RIL drivers for Android, and Ofono for Linux, allowing remote configurability and easy programming. The firmware also can be directly updated via the provided interfaces. These modules enable secure connection with TLS/DTLS and provide other internet services such as TCP/UDP server/client, DNS, Ping, HTTP, SMTP, and FTP client.
These RoHS-compliant modules are available in Land Grid Array (LGA) packages that measure 33.0 x 29.0 x 2.6 mm and are ideal for industrial IoT, industrial automation gateways and transportation applications.
