The Cinterion TX62 from Thales is an LPWA IoT Module that supports LTE CAT-M1, NB1, and NB2 communication protocols.
It is integrated with the GNSS module that supports GPS, Galileo, BeiDou, and GLONASS constellations and provides a steady stream of timing and location information for precise positioning of data. The module provides an uplink data rate of up to 1.1 Mbps (Cat-M1), 63 Kbps (Cat-NB1), 158 Kbps (Cat-NB2), and a downlink data rate of up to 300 Kbps (Cat-M1), 27 Kbps (Cat-NB1), 124 Kbps (Cat-NB2). It is optimized with PSM and eDRx modes and consumes 0.8 mA (eDRx mode) and 4.5 µA (PSM mode) of current during operation.
The TX62 supports two high-speed 8 line serial interface and is optionally integrated with Thales eSIM which further simplifies manufacturing and logistics while providing flexibility in the field with easy remote provisioning and dynamic subscription updates. It features an integrated processor with a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS), enabling hostless architecture offered with SDK to build and run the entire application on the small feature-packed module.
This ultra-integrated IoT module’s unique architecture allows the flexibility to run applications with a host processor or inside the module itself using the integrated processor dedicated to customer application for onboard processing, which optimizes the size. It is available in an LGA package that measures 15.3 x 15.3 x 2.9 mm and has been engineered to facilitate the design of small, battery-operated LPWA cellular devices applications such as small payment terminals, connected sensors, track and trace solutions, smart meters, monitoring for smart homes, cities, and agriculture.
