The SARA-S520BM10 from u-blox is a Multimode LTE-M, NB-IoT, and GNSS module for ORBCOMM satellite connectivity and cellular terrestrial networks. It is powered by the u-blox UBX-S52 cellular chipset and the u-blox M10 GNSS receiver chip and offers comprehensive connectivity capabilities, including access to satellite connectivity. This module utilizes the GEO satellite network ecosystem to ensure seamless coverage across the globe. It supports the ORBCOMM networks that enable customers to use this module everywhere in the world. The module also supports LTE Cat M1 and LTE Cat NB2 networks optimized for IoT applications with enhancements in power consumption, coverage, data rate, and mobility.
The SARA-S520BM10 module is future-proof and 5G-ready, allowing customers to upgrade their devices once 5G LTE networks are deployed by mobile operators. It requires a DC supply from 3 to 4.5 V, consumes less than 195 mA of current in LTE Cat M1 operation, and 1 µA of current in PSM mode. This module delivers a data rate of 588 kb/s (DL) and 1200 kb/s (UL) while operating in LTE Cat M1 half-duplex mode while in the Cat NB2 half-duplex mode, it supports a data rate of 125 kb/s (DL) and 140 kb/s (UL).
The SARA-S520BM10 can be controlled via UART, USB, DDC (I2C compliant), and GPIO interfaces. It is available in a 96-pin LGA package that measures 16.0 x 26.0 x 2.2 mm and is ideal for use in satellite connectivity and cellular terrestrial networks.
