The Adrastea-I from Würth Elektronik is an LTE-M/NB-IoT Cellular Module that is compliant with 3GPP Release 13 specifications and upgradeable to Release 14. It has multi-band support and can be operated through one of two (LTE-M and NB-IoT) cellular communication technologies which enable the support for international, multi-regional coverage. This module delivers an uplink data rate of up to 375 kbps (LTE Cat.M) & 62.5 kbps (NB-IoT) and a downlink data rate of up to 300 kbps (LTE Cat.M) & 27.2 kbps (NB-IoT). It is based on the Sony Altair ALT1250 radio chipset and has an integrated ARM Cortex-M4 MCU, 1 MB Flash Memory, and 256 KB RAM. It has an integrated GNSS receiver for positioning and timing that supports GPS and GLONASS constellations and makes it suitable for asset tracking applications where infrequent position updates are required. The module requires a DC supply of 3.6 V and consumes 1.57 μA of current in sleep mode.
The Adrastea-I can be controlled via (U)SIM, UART (UART0 for External Host), I2C Master, SPI Master, and ADC interfaces. It is available in a package that measures 14.6 x 13.4 x 1.85 mm and is ideal for smart factories, industrial 4.0, smart cities, smart homes, automotive, transport, agriculture, and healthcare applications.
