The StarLite SR from Elbit Systems is an Advanced Short-Range Digital Data Link that has been specifically designed for small/tactical platforms. It is a multi-band communication solution that operates in L-band, S-band, and C-band frequencies (as per the customer’s request). It delivers an output power of 28 dBm with a data rate of up to 8 Mbps over a range of 70 km. This data link supports full-duplex communication (2 SD, or SD and HD audio/video) using Time Division Duplexing (TDD), which allows it to transmit HD video and audio from several IP sources in the platform payload to the ground station, while simultaneously receiving IP sources and audio. It utilizes H.264 video encoding/decoding techniques and also supports PAL/NTSC and HD-SDI.
The StarLite SR data link system offers high-level performance powered by advanced error correction algorithms such as CTC-FEC along with antenna diversity (MRC) technologies, enabling reliable communication and unimpaired spatial coverage. It ensures fully secure communication with the AES-256-bit encryption scheme (COMSEC) as well as embedded frequency hopping capability (TRANSEC) (option available upon request).
The StarLite SR also provides enhanced aerial security with complete support of flight safety standards such as DO-178 and DO-254, resulting in higher reliability and robust communication. It consumes 10 W of power. This system is available in an enclosure that measures 105.5 x 72 x 27.5 mm and includes a self-cooling mechanism to maintain the internal temperature. It is lightweight and is ideal for mini-UAVs, handheld transceivers, loitering munitions, VTOL systems, and other small tactical platform applications.
