The NDR504 from Epiq Solutions is a 4-Channel COTS Downconverter that converts input frequencies from 18 to 40 GHz (RF) to output frequencies from 2 to 18 GHz (IF). It is an off-the-shelf solution that provides flexibility for installation near any antenna aperture, on the ground, on UxS, and in airborne environments. This low-SWaP downconverter’s IF output connects to any 18 GHz receiver, making it deployable in new and existing systems. It has a 2-band sub-octave preselector at the input stage that covers the 18-26.5 GHz and 26.5-40 GHz band frequencies. This downconverter supports 4 accurately phase-aligned channels where each channel independently selects either the 18-26.5 GHz or 26.5-40 GHz band for downconversion.
The NDR504 also has a dedicated test channel that allows an external test signal to be upconverted, which is then fed to each converter for on-mission calibration. This downconverter includes RS-232 over a USB interface for switch control and a Power OK LED indicator. This COTS converter provides a gain of 30 dB with a noise figure of 12 dB. It requires a DC supply of 12 V and consumes 45 W of power. This downconverter is available in an enclosure that measures 4.8 x 5.7 x 1.6 inches.
