The R&S CS-MC53 from Rohde & Schwarz is a Microwave Downconverter that converts input frequencies from 17 to 53 GHz (RF) to output frequencies from 3.2 to 6.2 GHz (IF). It extends the frequency range of the R&S EM200 digital receiver, R&S UMS400 universal monitoring system, and R&S ESMW ultra-wideband monitoring receiver to measure 5G signals and satellite links in the mmWave frequency range. This converter supports a real-time bandwidth of 40 MHz with the R&S EM200 and UMS400, and allows up to 500 MHz when paired with the R&S ESMW. A dedicated bypass input is also integrated into this converter, which enables the reception of signals over a frequency range from 10 MHz to 17 GHz.
This converter’s ultra-compact and weatherproof housing allows it to be installed directly at the antenna in remote-controlled fixed and transportable monitoring stations and on top of rotatable masks in mobile monitoring stations. This downconverter includes serial RS-485, AUX connectors, and DC power ports to ensure easy setup and installation. It consumes less than 40 mW of power. This microwave converter is available in an IP65/IP67-rated enclosure that measures 116 x 65 x 305 mm.
