The FutureAccess Type-C from Fujikura is a Phased Array Antenna Module (PAAM) that operates from 24.25 to 27.50 GHz and 26.50 to 29.50 GHz. It consists of beamformer ICs, a frequency conversion IC, bandpass filters, EEPROM, and an array antenna in one module, offering optimal total cost of ownership (TCO) and reduced development time. This module provides calibration-free, precision beam control without requiring separate calibration of gain and phase values for every beamformer IC. It can switch between multiple beams in less than 220 ns and supports active beam scans with more than 20,000 beams. It consists of an 8 x 8 antenna array element as a unit and can be further scaled to support higher data rates and capacities.
The FutureAccess Type-C requires a DC supply of 1.2 V, 1.5 V, 1.8 V, or 2.7 V and consumes 36 W (Tx side) and 15 W (Rx side) of power. It is available in a module that measures 42.5 x 42.5 mm and is ideal for 5G NR mobile base stations, fixed wireless access, wireless backhaul, repeaters, and local/private 5G applications.
