The ADF41510 from Analog Devices is an Integer-N/Fractional-N PLL Synthesizer that operates from 1 to 10 GHz. It is designed for implementing local oscillators (LOs) up to 10 GHz in the upconversion and downconversion sections of wireless receivers and transmitters.
This synthesizer has a phase frequency detector (PFD) frequency of 250 MHz (Integer-N) & 125 MHz (fractional-N) with a phase noise of −235 dBc/Hz (Integer-N) & −231 dBc/Hz (fractional-N). It has an RF input sensitivity of -11 dBm and supports a 25-bit fixed/49-bit variable fractional modulus mode. This frequency synthesizer is designed on a high-performance silicon germanium (SiGe), bipolar complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (BiCMOS) process.
The ADF41510 has a Digital lock detect (DLD) and its 10 GHz bandwidth eliminates the need for a frequency doubler or divider stage, simplifying system architecture and reducing cost. This ultra-low noise synthesizer requires a DC supply of 3.3 V and consumes less than 108 mA of current. It is available in a compact LFCSP package that measures 4 x 4 mm and is ideal for test equipment & instrumentation, wireless infrastructure, microwave point-to-point & multipoint radios, very small aperture terminal (VSAT) radios and aerospace & defense applications.
