The ADF4355 from Analog Devices is a PLL based Frequency Synthesizer that provides output frequency from 54 to 6800 MHz. It has an integrated VCO and a series of frequency dividers that enable it to generate an output frequency as low as 54 MHz. The device allows the implementation of fractional-N and integer-N synthesizers when used with an external loop filter and an external reference frequency. For applications that require isolation, the RF output stage can be muted which is both hardware and software controlled. All on-chip registers are controlled by a simple 3-wire interface. It operates with analog and digital power supplies ranging from 3.15 V to 3.45 V, with charge pump and VCO supplies from 4.75 V to 5.25 V.
The synthesizer is available as a surface mount LFCSP package that measures 5.00 x 5.00 x 0.75 mm and is suitable for wireless infrastructure (W-CDMA, TD-SCDMA, WiMAX, GSM, PCS, DCS, DECT), point-to-point/point-to-multipoint microwave links, satellites/VSAT, clock generation and test equipment/instrumentation applications.
