The ADF4377 from Analog Devices is a Wideband Microwave Frequency Synthesizer that can generate an output frequency from 800 MHz to 12.8 GHz. This ultra-low jitter synthesizer is based on a dual-output integer-N phase-locked loop (PLL) that integrates a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) to support data converter and mixed-signal clock devices. It also embeds all necessary power supply bypass capacitors that help save board space. This synthesizer provides ultra-low in-band noise and integrated jitter, thereby resulting in optimal performance. It has a jitter of 27 fs (RMS) and a noise floor of -160 dBc/Hz (at 12 GHz). The synthesizer requires a DC supply of 3.3/5 V.
The ADF4377 simplifies clock alignment and calibration routines by implementing an automatic reference to output synchronization, an extremely well-matched reference to output delays across process, voltage, and temperature, and a sub-ps jitter-free reference to output delay adjustment capability. It is available in a Land Grid Array (LGA) package that measures 7 x 7 mm and is ideal for use in high-performance data converter and MxFE clocking, wireless infrastructure (MC-GSM, 5G), and test and measurement applications.
