The FMSN3903 from Fairview Microwave is a Frequency Synthesizer Module that operates from 10 GHz to 20 GHz. It provides an output power of more than 10 dBm across the entire band and attenuation of up to 30 dB in 1 dB steps. The synthesizer has a phase noise of -80 dBc at 100 kHz offset and second harmonics of -15 dBc. The frequency resolution of this synthesizer is available in integer and fractional operating modes and the user can select between an internal reference or externally applied reference. It supports integrated phase-locked loop (PLL) circuitry that the user can select between an internal reference (capable of phase-locking) or externally applied reference.
The FMSN3903 has a USB 2.0 interface that can power and control the device directly from a host PC. It is accessible by a GUI on Windows, Linux, and Macintosh. The synthesizer draws 500 mA of input current. It is available in a module that measures 4.10 x 0.91 x 0.75 inches with SMA-male connectors and is suitable for use in signal generators, test equipment, RF system integration, communication systems, EW systems, X-band, Ku-band, K-band systems, radar systems, SIGINT, and frequency conversion applications.
